i have a little crush on you.

who? katie herzig

what? poppy, happy. makes me laugh out loud. cute and bubbly. replay? i think so.

my favorite song? hey na na.

clarity comes.

the cherry on top;

life is beautiful.
the heavenly scent of frothy bubbles in a bath.
the drip of espresso from a steely machine.
the calm that settles over you as you slide under your down covers at night.
the unbreakable bond you form to a room full of strangers at a concert.
the rush of adrenaline as your skis carve the snow underfoot.
the pulse of excitement as your favorite song comes on the radio.
the streaked pinks and reds of a summer sunset.
the cool, smooth feel of a paintbrush between your fingers.
the comfort of a mug of cocoa between your hands.
the laughter and banter floating like music through a room full of friends.
the heavy and rich silence of being alone.
the smell after rain, and the feeling that all of the grime and ugly in the world has been washed away.
the sharp clarity of a sunny day.
the piney smell of a forest with a carpet of moss and a blanket of leaves.
the warmth that spreads across your tongue as you eat a maple candy.
a blank canvas.
a vintage tin of jewelry.
a childhood stuffed animal who still holds a place in your heart and your bed.
a tv box set, popcorn and a blanket.
a day spent in pajamas.
color.
voice.
water.
having not a care in the world.
caring.

i heart art

three sketches that i founds which caught my attention;

blue treetops and velvet skies, blue, ready to blow your mind.

so, i have been on a little Alice in Wonderland kick lately. Because of the movie, no. Because of the movie soundtrack? ...Quite possibly, yes. It is hauntingly intriguing with delicious lyrics that just draw you in and paint an incredibly vivid pictures full of personification of animals and the whole down the rabbit hole vibe, if you know what I mean. The image of the movie, the costumes and set, are exquisite and yes, that could also be what is drawing me so greatly to Alice in Wonderland but, no matter what reason, I was therefore also completely drawn to this pixie-like Vogue editorial from 2003. Each individual photograph includes the designer of the dress that Alice flaunts, which is especially interesting, to me.

the power of a brush stroke

who? danny roberts.
what? fashion drawer, i love the (yes, you guessed it) color that he puts into his work and the very interesting, almost abstract twist that he gives the models in his paintings. he inspires me, this could be something that i could really see myself doing.
gwen stefani? he also did a collection with gwen stefani and her brand, harijuku lovers.

in one ear and out the other.

who? cage the elephant
what? great music, totally unique, folkish. i have never heard anything like it.
my favorite song? in one ear.

i am completely addicted to them, could probably listen to them for 24 hours straight.

there are no words.

as in the title, there are no words to describe my speechless and gleeful amazement at this line of clothing. vibrant, eclectic, pop, perfection, all words that come to mind when you set eyes on this line of clothing. i would really like to have every piece in this collection in my closet...now.

tonight, i went for a walk.
not to any particular place, nor with any particular purpose, just a meander through my thoughts and fresh air along the ridge, with no phone or ipod, simply in sweats and an old t-shirt.

i have decided that i should go for a walk every night. it is so easy to find yourself always doing something, moving through every second of the day with such purpose and focus. it's exhausting, really. it is a breath of fresh air (literally) to simply drop everything and spare yourself a few guilty minutes of sweet nothingness; to breathe in the clean and cool air around you and simply marvel at the enormous and overwhelming world.

people so often, too often, get caught in their own small, cramped box and suffocate in their own seemingly apocalyptic problems and woes. you need to step outside of this tiny box, into the wide open space that is the entire world and, for a change, become an observer, the reader of the book rather than the writer. observe the tall, wise pine trees and the sound of tiny, innocent chickadees chirping their harmonious tunes. observe the pastel pink, delicate cherry blossoms blooming and releasing a sweet and airy scent or the deep green grass sprouting shyly out of the just thawed soil. just sit back and observe. drop your problems and tasks and step out of your busy life, if only for a moment. allow yourself a chance to break the surface of the water and take a much needed breath.

my life in black and white.
